Course Overview: Integrative Breathwork for Healing

The Approach

This breathwork training integrates a variety of spiritual, psychological, and somatic healing traditions, with a foundational emphasis on the work of psychiatrist Viktor Frankl. His seminal text, Man’s Search for Meaning, serves as a guiding influence throughout the course. Frankl, a Holocaust survivor, wrote profoundly about the human capacity to choose one’s attitude in any circumstance—a principle that underpins much of our approach.

Throughout the training, students are introduced to diverse modalities that support emotional and energetic healing. These include chakra-based frameworks, affirmation techniques inspired by Louise Hay, sound healing instruments, and breathwork practices influenced by Native American, Hindu, and Buddhist traditions. We also incorporate philosophical insights from ancient Stoicism and the Parable of the Chinese Farmer to encourage deep reflection and present-moment awareness.Participants will explore a variety of tools for personal transformation, including:

  • Laughter therapy and cognitive reframing
  • Inner child journaling and narrative healing
  • Trauma-informed breathwork for emotional release
  • Sound healing for nervous system regulation
  • Affirmation work to support belief and behavior change

This course also draws on the pioneering research of Dr. Stanislav Grof, whose work at Johns Hopkins in the 1970s explored the use of breathwork as a safe, non-substance-based approach to accessing and healing the subconscious mind.Students will learn to facilitate sessions that create a safe, supportive space for clients to process trauma, release stored emotions, and reconnect with their inner resilience. A central aim is to help clients re-author their life story—not as victims of circumstance, but as empowered individuals playing a meaningful role in their own journey.Breathwork is increasingly recognized as a powerful modality for trauma healing, including among veterans and individuals with PTSD. This training prepares students to skillfully and ethically guide others through this deeply transformative practice.

Training with Liz was a wonderful and even healing experience. It was informative, fun, and uplifting-- just like her classes. Liz has this ability to see your strengths and champion them, while gently allowing for pruning of that which may not serve. I appreciated her strong leadership in keeping us on track in class, ability to pivot when we needed, and her confidence in the power of breathwork to support us in living full lives. I'm grateful for this training, the woman I met in it, and would do it again in a heartbeat! Thank you, Liz for your belief in us, support of us, and your commitment to finding and amplifying to the good in our lives.

Taking the Baltimore Breathwork Teacher Training with Liz was nothing short of transformative. From the very first class, it was clear that Liz is not only deeply knowledgeable but also incredibly compassionate and intuitive in her teaching. She creates a space that feels both sacred and welcoming, allowing each participant to fully step into their own journey while learning to hold space for others.

Throughout the training, I felt challenged in the best way, pushed to expand my understanding of breathwork, myself, and the healing power of this practice. Liz has a way of connecting that makes learning feel natural and deeply meaningful. Her guidance helped me build confidence, not just in leading breathwork but in trusting my own inner wisdom.

This experience has been a gift, one that I will carry with me always. If you’re considering this training, do it. You will leave not only with the skills to guide others but with a profound sense of personal growth and community.

Thank you, Liz, for your wisdom, warmth, and the space you so beautifully hold. This journey has been unforgettable.
